We Do Four Security Jobs. That’s The Whole Firm.

Hasp & Staple exists because small offices were being sold a fortress by the month when what they needed was a lock that works. So we shrank the business down to four fixed-price projects: passkeys, a locked-down mailbox and file store, a written plan for the bad day, and an honest answer to the insurance form.

Each one gets a price before we start, an invoice when we finish, and a stack of plain-English paper that outlives us.

The shop’s whole filing system: a scope sheet, a pen, a latch that closes.
The argument

Most Security Advice Is Written To Be Renewed

Walk into a twelve-person firm and you’ll find the same scene: a password in a shared spreadsheet, an admin account nobody remembers creating, and a cyber-insurance form that somebody is about to answer “yes” to on faith. Nobody there is stupid. Nobody ever sat down and priced the fix.

The industry’s answer is a subscription, a dashboard, and a quarterly slide deck. We think that’s backwards. A small office needs a handful of controls fitted properly, one time, by someone who then leaves.

So we scope the job on one page, quote it as a single number, do it on the dates we wrote down, and hand over the keys. If the scope grows, we stop and re-price before we touch anything. The number you signed is the number you pay.

We’re a New York consultancy and we work with small businesses that can’t afford a security department and shouldn’t need one.

House rules

Four Rules We’d Rather Be Sued For Keeping

  1. 01

    The price is the price.

One number, signed before kickoff. Surprises belong in birthday parties, not invoices.

  2. 02

If a manager can’t follow it, it’s not done.

Every control ships with a one-page explanation written for the office manager, not the auditor.

  3. 03

    You keep every key.

Admin credentials, recovery codes and documents are handed back on the last day. We keep nothing and we hold nothing hostage.

  4. 04

Say “not you” when it’s true.

If the call shows you need a different kind of help, we tell you and point you to it. That call is free.

Things we won’t sell you

The Ledger Of Hard No’s

A shorter menu is a stronger opinion. Here is what you won’t find on our price list, and why.

Hardware security key resting on a printed one-page checklist

One key, one page, one door that closes.

  • No.

    Monthly monitoring retainers

We build the lock and hand you the key. If you want someone watching the door, we’ll tell you what to ask for and what a fair quote looks like.

  • No.

    Fear-based pitches

We don’t open with a breach story. We open with your tenant’s settings and what they actually say.

  • No.

    Auto-renewing contracts

When the project ends, the billing ends. Nothing renews itself in the fine print.

  • No.

    Jargon as a moat

Conditional access is a rule that says who may sign in from where. We’ll say it that way, every time.

Working with us

Your First Twenty Minutes, Spelled Out

What happens on the call

  • You describe the thing that worries you, in your own words, no vocabulary required.
  • We ask who has admin access, which platform you run, and when your insurance renews.
  • We tell you which of the four projects fits, or that none do.
  • Within two business days you get a one-page scope with dates and a price.
